Welcome to Hatfield Woodhouse Village Hall
We are pleased to announce that Hatfield Woodhouse Village Hall is open for bookings.
Welcome from the Chairman of Trustees
Welcome to the Hatfield Woodhouse Village Hall website and thank you for taking the trouble to see what we are and what we have to offer. The village Hall is a multi-space, multi-use building run by the trustees of the charity. It is run for the benefit of both village users and the wider south Yorkshire community. It is funded through its rental income, fund raising by village hall groups and charitable grants.
The need for a village hall in Hatfield Woodhouse was identified in the late 1930’s by a stalwart group of community minded villagers. Unfortunately World War 2 put a temporary halt to progress. Post war austerity and the economic situation in the 1950’s did not stop this group carrying the project forward and they continued their efforts and fund raising till the Village Hall was opened formally in 1964 by The Countess of Ross.
This hall and its playing fields proved a highly used and valued village asset. Unfortunately in 2000 there was a disastrous fire and the hall burnt down.
The lack of a hall was deeply felt by the village and the next generation of villagers picked up the baton and succeeded in four short years in replacing the old hall with a magnificent new one fit for the 21st century. Since then the hall has gone from strength to strength. The Trustees have through careful financial planning and spending continued to develop the Hall and its playing fields always striving to maintain the hall as a first rate venue and asset to the village.
Now nearly 25 years after the start of the project for the new hall we have a first rate public space for multi activity use as well as a state of the art theatre venue. Please do take the time to study what we have available both in the hall and outside. We are very proud of what we have to offer!
